The Little Bush Baby Company (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a registered (Pty) Ltd company operating family safaris and nature-based activities from St Lucia, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
This policy explains what personal information we collect through thelittlebushbaby.com, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
What We Collect
We currently collect personal information through:
- Our contact/enquiry formΒ β name, email address, and the content of your message.
- Our email sign-upΒ β if you subscribe, your email address is collected and stored via Kit, our email marketing platform, so we can send you newsletters, updates, and occasional promotions or special offers. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email you receive from us, or by contacting us directly.
We do not collect payment information, ID numbers, or health information through this website. If you go on to book an activity with us, further information (such as emergency contact details or health declarations) is collected separately via our indemnity form, which has its own consent and disclosure terms.
Why We Collect It
We use the information submitted through the contact/enquiry form solely to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to discuss and arrange a booking with you. We use the email address you provide through our sign-up to send newsletters, updates, and occasional promotions or special offers, and for no other purpose.
Legal Basis for Processing
We process enquiry information on the basis of your consent, given by submitting the form, and because it is necessary to take steps toward a booking at your request. We process email sign-up information on the basis of your explicit consent, given when you subscribe, and you may withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing.
Who We Share It With
We do not sell your personal information. Your enquiry information may only be disclosed where required by law, or to a service provider strictly necessary to respond to your enquiry (for example, our email provider). Email addresses collected via our sign-up are stored and processed by Kit, our email marketing platform, which may store data outside South Africa; Kit acts as our service provider for this purpose only and does not use your information for its own marketing.
Cookies and Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, such as which pages are viewed and how visitors found us. Google Analytics may place cookies on your device to collect this information. This data is aggregated and is not used by us to identify you personally. You can disable cookies at any time through your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics tracking using Google’s browser add-on.
How Long We Keep It
We retain enquiry correspondence for up to 24 months from the date of your last contact with us, which allows for the fact that many families plan safari trips well in advance. If your enquiry becomes a confirmed booking, information relevant to that booking is retained in line with our indemnity form and booking record-keeping policy. Email sign-up addresses are retained for as long as you remain subscribed; if you unsubscribe, your address is removed from our active mailing list. If you’d like your information deleted sooner, contact us and we will action this promptly.
Your Rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information.
- Object to our processing of your information, or request its deletion, subject to any legal or contractual obligations we may have.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your information has been mishandled (enquiries@inforegulator.org.za).
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the personal information we hold from loss, unauthorised access, or disclosure.
